A new prison in New Zealand, Spring Hill, is being described by TV3 News as "comfortable." From the newscast:
[The prison's] managers say while it is high tech security, the unique thing about Spring Hill is that it has been built with 'behaviour change' in mind.
It is focussed on rehabilitation and reintegration.
Like the other 3 new prisons built recently, it has a wharenui where Maori are taught about their history.
With a rugby field right in the middle, Spring Hill caters for those who see the game as their culture too.
Some argue that the government has spent too much on the prison but Corrections says it could be a place that offers prisoners new hope and a chance at conversion.
Maybe they should come to Pennsylvania and build us a prison too.
